What our students are saying about us…

Starting a regular yoga practice has changed my life in more ways than I can count. Not only has it made me stronger, but I have made many new friends that I would never have known. We have a friendly and inclusive community that is welcoming to all. There is something here for everyone no matter your fitness level! Most of my time is spent being a caretaker and yoga is what I choose for my self care.

Life in Balance has been a treasure to me and Danville. Over the last two years, attending the various yoga classes has not only kept me fit and de-stressed but has prompted me to deeply engage in healthy self-care. I love how Shonna has a variety of instructors who offer a range of classes and will regularly offer classes on new forms of yoga, such as Yoga Nidra. Besides the yoga, I really appreciate the community that Shonna has encouraged and nurtured around yoga. One of the highlights about attending class is catching up friends and meeting new people. I feel so fortunate to be part of the Life in Balance community!

I started yoga at Life In Balance almost two and a half years ago. I don’t plan to ever give it up. I especially began to notice a difference after a minimum of three classes a week. I am more flexible, move better, sleep better, am more relaxed and more present. The space is inviting and calming and the classes are varied enough for the beginning yogi or the more advanced. The instructors are knowledgeable and helpful as well. I’m so glad I do this for myself! It has been life changing both physically and mentally. I would recommend it for anyone of any age.

Yoga has had a major impact on my physical and psychological health. I started classes once per week then moved to 2-4 per week. Due to yoga, I no longer have neck and back pain and have not seen the chiropractor in 6 years! Yoga has also helped me feel calmer throughout the week. As a psychologist, I recognize how significant this change can be. I have begun to use some of the yoga poses and relaxation with clients. We ALL love it!

I started Yoga at Life in Balance in September 2018 after suffering from chronic pain for 15 years, not wanting Western Medicine’s Pill for an answer. I was encouraged by my new doctor to go to yoga, start a better diet, and get more sleep. I practiced yoga 3-5 times a week, and by October, my chronic pain was under control for the first time in many years. RELIEF! I knew this had to become part of my life. I am happy to say I still go regularly, my pain is still under control, and I am not on any medications for it. The loving atmosphere at Life in Balance is so warm and welcoming, I felt like I was home from the beginning. Shonna is very calm and answers any questions you may have very patiently. I am excited about going to each class, and can’t wait to learn more! Shonna’s knowledge is vast and she doesn’t mind sharing! I love Life in Balance!

I started attending Shonna’s yoga classes initially for lower back pain 6 years ago. A regular yoga practice has provided me with the core strength I need to relieve the back pain and stretch muscles that were overly tight. But far more important, my time in class allows me to decompress. With two young children and a career, the stress relief I receive from practicing yoga keeps me coming back. I appreciate the variety of classes, and I love how the classes are a perfect balance of physical challenge, stretching, and mindfulness! All of the instructors at Life in Balance have their own unique talents and skills to truly help you create a balanced life - mind, body, and soul.

I love yoga at Life in Balance. Shonna has created a space where people of ALL levels of experience can practice together. The studio is simple, welcoming, and not at all intimidating. No gimmicks. Just yoga.
— Elaine Wilson-Reddy
I began yoga in July 2018, going 2-3 times a week. It has been a tremendous help with sciatica in my right hip. Also, my core strength and overall strength has improved. Love Yoga!!

Yoga has changed my life! Shonna and her team at the Life in Balance studio are awesome! Through my regular practice with Shonna, I have been able to improve my balance, flexibility, and strength. Life in Balance offers a variety of classes to accommodate different schedules, body types, and levels! One of my favorite tips Shonna shares is to honor the body that you have today! She encourages and teaches us to adapt our practice accordingly! In addition to the physical benefits, I find myself more centered and mindful after a class! I love the helpful reminders to focus on the breath! I’ve practiced yoga with other instructors, but Life in Balance yoga is the best you can find!

My story is a bit unique in that I moved to this area about two years ago, seeking a place to practice yoga. I googled yoga, Danville, and this studio popped up. I feel like that was a divine intervention moment. After my very FIRST session, I was ALL IN!! A combination of things keeps me faithfully returning: the relaxed environment, the no-pressure, no-judgment instruction styles and the friendships I have developed with people of all ages and all abilities. And the BONUS moments for me are usually after a session that seems perfectly timed to meet my needs, I find myself commenting “the universe knew exactly what my body needed today!” Namaste

I guess you would call me a new yogi. I’ve been coming for a year or so pretty regularly. I have grown to love it and I miss it when I miss my classes. I’ve missed a lot during the holidays and my body can tell it.Yoga has helped me in every way. It helps me to feel less stressed in my body. My shoulders aren’t in my ears quite so much. It definitely helps me mentally/emotionally to turn my brain off which is extremely hard for me. I guess if you haven’t tried yoga ... try it. And give it time to do it’s thing!!!
