I love yoga at Life in Balance. Shonna has created a space where people of ALL levels of experience can practice together. The studio is simple, welcoming, and not at all intimidating. No gimmicks. Just yoga.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS?

Create an account and sign up for a class HERE. Simply arrive 5-10min before class to meet the instructor. They’ll help you get what you need and get settled into your space.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR AND BRING?

Wear comfortable clothing that will allow your body to move and bend. Yoga is typically done barefoot. If you have a yoga mat, bring it. We have any other equipment you might need at the studio for no extra charge. Feel free to bring water.

YOGA STUDIO ETIQUETTE

  • We are a small studio with no reception area. If the sign is hanging on the door, PLEASE WAIT for previous session to finish before you enter.

  • Please REMOVE SHOES before you enter and place them on the shoe rack. Please DO NOT walk around the studio with your shoes on. Other belongings can be stored on hooks and back steps. Your mat area should be free of personal belongings that might get in the way.

  • Please TURN OFF your phone before you enter. If phone is silenced make sure it will not vibrate with incoming notifications.

I’M NOT FLEXIBLE. CAN I DO YOGA?

You bet! We all start wherever are bodies are and move forward from there. Our instructors will give modifications for different levels and abilities, with no judgement. Always listen to and respect your body, and use props as needed to be more comfortable.

HELPFUL HINTS

Let your instructor know if you have an injury, chronic pain, or are pregnant - they can offer modifications for you. Remember, Yoga is non-competitive and poses are never forced – rest when you need to and work within your abilities.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are on the corner of 4th and Grant St. three blocks from downtown. From 4th St. turn right onto Grant St. and you will find our parking lot just behind the building on the left. Additional parking can be found on 4th St. or on Grant St.

WHAT CLASSES ARE SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS?

Anyone is welcome to attend any class on the schedule as our instructors will give modifications for different levels. However, classes labeled Flow are faster paced, so you might want to get familiar with basic yoga postures before you try them. Classes especially suited for beginners are Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. See our class descriptions for more details on each class.

I FEEL NERVOUS TO TRY A CLASS FOR THE FIRST TIME. ARE THERE OTHER OPTIONS?

Beginner Yoga Workshops are offered regularly throughout the year. If you would like one-on-one sessions to get more comfortable with your practice before you join a class, please email shonna@lifeinbalancefitness.com to schedule some sessions. We’re happy to help!
